Dorothy Bauer Designs

Contemporary jewelry designer Dorothy Bauer has been making fun jewelry for over a decade. If there's a day to celebrate you're likely to find it animated in dimensional layers of rhinestones with the Bauer signature on the reverse side.

Originally intending to pursue a career in art, Dorothy Bauer attended Indiana University for undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts with an emphasis on Ceramics & a BA from the Dept. of Independant Studies for setting up a glassblowing facility; at CCAC in Oakland, CA. she was awarded her MFA degree (with highest honors) in 1981.

Further studies took Ms. Bauer to the experimental glassworkshop in NYC where she was a guest artist and invited to produce a collection but it was her commercial muse that led her to the world of jewelry!

Recognized throughout the costume jewelry industry, Dorothy has carved a niche for her jewelry and has been recognized in a variety of books including: Chairmania by George Beylerian, Christmas Pins Past & Present by Jill Gallina, Christmas Jewelry by Mary Morrison (1st & 2nd editions), Christmas Tree Pins - O Christmas Tree by Nancy Trowbridge, and due out in 2003 - Jill Gallina's new book of Christmas Pins!

During one of her bi-annual tours, that included stops in Philadelphia and New York, JewelCollect's Jenny Stephens caught up Ms. Bauer. Readers are welcome to view inventory from the show and learn more about Dorothy Bauer at:
